Personal Testimony
The “Spoon Man” is Catholic and married with five children and a mortgage and has been supporting his family for 18 years by playing the spoons internationally. If that’s not a testimony to Christ, I don’t know what is. He talks about how his faith blossomed when he was just out of High School. Jim discusses why his sister left the Catholic Church and why he remained. He stresses the importance of accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior along with the ongoing relationship of loving Christ and your neighbor as yourself. Jim talks about how scripture spoke to him while his faith was being challenged, especially when he was told that he may end up in Hell by being Catholic. He also speaks about the healing of his then six-year-old daughter, Natalie, from cancer.
Prayer is More Powerful Than a Billion Dollars
The “Spoon Man” addresses the tremendous power we have in prayer. His message is based Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Jim answers the questions: “Why don’t we pray more often if prayer is so powerful?” “Does God answer all of our prayers?”
He challenges the students to take more time out of their busy schedules to pray. He also talks about the healing of his six-year-old daughter from cancer and the effect prayer had not only on his daughter, but also on the rest of his family and friends.
Stewardship for Adults & Students
This message is specifically designed for the age of the audience. The message is based on the scripture passage 2 Corinthians 9 “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” The “Spoon Man” gives examples of his challenges and choices with stewardship as a student and a married adult with children.
We are called to be Witnesses
Based on the scripture on Matthew 5:15 “Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.” The “Spoon Man” talks about how we are called to shine in the darkness of the world.
This message is based more on our non- –verbal communications with others rather than verbal. So many people feel that they don’t have the gift of ministering to others, yet simply the way we love our neighbors and handle our daily lives is more of a witness to the light of Christ then memorized scripture verses. He also gives examples from his six-year old Daughter’s fight and healing from cancer.
